The Umbrella Grant 

(Interior or non-Facade Improvements)

The Main Street Atmore Umbrella Grant Program supports downtown business owners within the Main Street Atmore District by providing financial assistance for eligible improvement projects. The program funds projects up to $7,000 (maximum grant award: $3,500). Applicants are responsible for providing the required matching funds.

Grant funds are issued directly to the vendor or contractor as outlined in the approved application. Reimbursement may be provided to the applicant with the submission of a detailed invoice and proof of payment.

Eligibility Requirements

• The business must be a current Main Street Atmore member in good standing.
• Grants are approved on a calendar year basis. If a project has not received funding this year, the business/building may reapply.
• Projects must receive approval from the Main Street Atmore Board before any work begins.
• Work must be completed within (6) months of approval. The MSA Board may grant extensions for delays related to material or demonstrated hardship.
• Participation in Main Street Required; Opportunities: be a committee member, involvement in Sales events such as First Thursday, or volunteer 8 hours at MSA events.

Qualifying Improvements

• Interior improvements (paint, wall, ceiling, or floor repairs)
• Non-Façade Improvements (roof repair, repairs considered a non-customer entrance or non-main entrance)
• Projects that use local vendors and materials are preferred.
• Ineligible Uses
• Facade or exterior projects that qualify under the Facade Grant
• Work started or completed before approval
• Resale inventory
• Rent, lease, or mortgage payments
• Utilities or deposits
• Late fees or interest
• Salaries or debt payments
